Man Busted In Broom Handle Attack During Hudson Valley Incident

A man was charged with allegedly assaulting a woman with a broom handle and his fist, causing a head injury, during a domestic dispute in the region.

Ulster County resident Harry J. Krom, age 42, of Kerhonkson, was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 25, on Two Path Road in Wawarsing.

An investigation alleges that Krom repeatedly struck a 45-year-old woman with a broom handle and closed fist. As a result of the assault, the victim sustained a head injury and other injuries to her body, said Ulster County Sheriff's Office Capt. Jospeh Sciutto.

She was transported to Ellenville Regional Hospital for treatment.

Krom has been in the Second Degree and aggravated family offense, as well as misdemeanors of menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

After processing, Krom was remanded to Ulster County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Wawarsing Justice Court later.
